Global Surgical Surveys

Surgery has widely been referred to as the “neglected stepchild” of global health. However, we are now in the midst of a movement in response to the facts that surgically treatable conditions form approximately 30% of the global burden of disease and 5 billion people lack access to safe, affordable surgical and anaesthesia care. Common misconceptions, such as surgery being expensive, a last resort and difficult to sustain, have been successfully challenged. To drive the momentum we have gained towards improving the capacity and quality of surgical services, we invite research groups to use this website as a platform to create and distribute surveys on a national or international scale, therefore, building our knowledge and guiding our interventions.

Mr Prasad studied at St Andrews and Manchester university. His basic surgical training was undertaken around Manchester before gaining entry into the South West Thames rotation. Throughout his training he had a strong interest in spinal surgery. He tailored his rotation towards spine and worked with most of the spinal consultants on the South West Thames rotation.
